Launching a Streaming Platform with Zero New Content
When Plex launched its free, ad-supported streaming service, they partnered with our team to bring their unique AVOD model to life. Unlike other platforms, Plex wasn’t working with shiny new releases—it was streaming studio films from the vault. Think: the digital version of the $5 DVD bin at the grocery store. Our challenge? Make it all feel fresh, cinematic, and worth watching again.
Building a Scalable Content System for
Legacy Titles with Modern Appeal
To meet this challenge, we built a cost-effective, high-volume content system that made older films feel exciting again. Our system was built to showcase 8–10 titles at a time and produced a large batch of trailers, teasers, sizzles, and still ads in one unified workflow. This helped Plex stand out in a crowded streaming market while maximizing budget and output across social and OTT platforms.
Empowering Brand Development and
Performance Testing
Each asset was custom-built for its platform and placement—from social feeds to connected TV units—allowing for precise A/B testing and audience targeting. We avoided a one-size-fits-all approach by tailoring each trailer and teaser to the tone of the film and the viewing context. Localization across multiple languages gave Plex global flexibility while reinforcing its evolving brand identity.

Driving Results Despite Limited Resources
Even with aging content libraries and tight creative constraints, our campaign helped Plex gain serious traction. By the end of 2022, Plex recorded billions of minutes watched, doubled its year-over-year viewership, and grew to 16 million monthly active users. Ad revenue nearly tripled. This work didn’t just launch a platform—it proved what great creative can do when your hands are tied behind your back.
